This chapter examines the costs associated by the Department of Environment, Community and Local Government associated with the remediation of land as directed by the European Court of Justice.

The examination focused on the outturn in terms of time, cost and delivery, progress in the areas of economic and social renewal and the challenges that remain to the successful completion of the programme.

The objectives of this report was to assess the success of the Short Term Action Plan in terms of the targets set by the Dublin Transport Office, particularly the objective of transferring a significant proportion of the excess of 49,000 predicted car trips to alternative modes. The examination included a review of Target costs to actual costs, Target impacts to actual impacts and Target achievement dates realised.
