Seven Regional Fisheries Boards have responsibility for the management, conservation, protection and development of the inland fisheries in Ireland's freshwater lakes and rivers, and for certain activities at sea. The Central Fisheries Board has responsibility for overall coordination and, where necessary, for direction of the Regional Boards. This report presents the findings of an examination of the management of the inland fisheries, including management of coarse and game fishing and sea angling, fishery protection and the management of water quality in rivers and lakes.
