The Office of Public Works carried out major schemes of drainage works on the Boyle and Bonet river systems. This involved artificial widening and deepening of river channels, to increase their drainage capacity and thus to improve agricultural land in the river catchments. This report presents the findings of an examination carried out to establish the outturns of the schemes in terms of producing the planned outputs within time and budgetary targets. It also looked at the post-completion maintenance of the schemes, the cost and efficiency of scheme works and how the effectiveness of the schemes was evaluated.
